What is silk? Silk is a natural protein fiber, which is composed of sericin and silk fibroin. it's consist of 18 kinds of amino acids in different proportions and spaces. Generally, silk refers to mulberry silk. it’s produced from cocoons of silkworms and been named as “Queen of Fiber”, which is the only natural filament fiber that has been practically applied.
Silk is originated from China, nowadays, silk is produced in more than 60 countries in the world, like India, Uzbekistan, Iran, Vietnam, Brazil, Africa, Thailand and Bulgaria. But China is still the leader in global silk production and the main supplier of high-grade raw silk materials for global luxury silk products market. Italy and France are the most important importer and processor of silk and an exporter of silk products in Europe.
In China, the main silk production area is located in Zhejiang, Guangxi, Yunnan and Sichuan.
